I like the book because you can go at your own pace and the lessons get progressivly complex. I gave this book a 5 out of 5 because of the approach in teaching the beginner and also the great support from Adobe that is available. This book is really helpful if you are taking an adobe Illustrator class. It has hands on examples of how to create vector art. The CD contains all the examples the book uses so without it the book is kind of pointless. Unless you are taking a class and the professor gives you all the examples from the book.
Illustrator is a hard tool to master but once you do it is very fun and exciting. My suggestion skip pages , that example will only confuse the heck out of you if you have never seen or touched illustrator.
I love the Adobe Classroom in a Book series! They contain step by step instructions and are soooo easy to understand. They far exceed any software manual I've ever seen as far as ease of use and instructions. I actually had four of them for various Adobe applications and shipped them home to myself from out of town.
Unfortunately, they were lost in the mail, so I was quite excited to find them on eBay. I've been able to buy three of them here and I'm just waiting for the fourth to show up.
