Internal audits will be used to assess conformity , evaluate the effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement. When you perform an internal audit, you will be able to compare your quality management system to the requirements and understand if there are any non-conformances. This will allow you to correct your QMS and ensure that your organization will meet the requirements for the external auditor and allow for certification.
StandardStores offers several online training courses for Internal Auditors. Learn more about the training options that are available here , or check out these products available for download:. External audits include customer, supplier, certification and surveillance.
A customer audit is where an existing, or potential customer, audits your organization to verify you can or are meeting their requirements. If you are auditing an existing or potential supplier, we consider this a supplier audit. Supplier audits can be one of the methods used to meet the requirements around control of external providers ISO 8.
A certification audit is an audit your selected registrar will conduct to verify conformance against the ISO standard before they issue your official ISO certificate.
Certification audits are most often broken into two stages. Stage one is oftentimes conducted remotely in order to not spend additional costs on travel. If the auditor determines you meet the minimum criteria for the stage one audit, your organization will proceed with the stage two audit.
Stage two audits will always be on-site audits. If not managed properly, audits can introduce risk in to the organisation, which of course we want to avoid. There are times where the audit schedule may need to be adjusted, and our auditors will happily do that providing the audit objectives can still be met.
We also take the confidentiality of your organisation very seriously, and you can read about our Information Security controls here. Contact us to start your assurance programme. Sampling Using a representative sampling technique is one of the most effective ways to achieve the objectives of an audit. In addition to this, sampling can be approached in two ways: Judgement-Based Sampling This is the most common form of sampling that our ISO auditors will undertake.
Statistical Sampling A more technical approach is statistical sampling. Observation Our auditors may observe a work process in action or review a physical characteristic of the premises in order to determine whether a process is effective in achieving your intended outcomes. Testing In some cases it may not be possible to sample or observe live data, for example if performing an activity creates unnecessary risk or disrupts the organisation too much.
Data Analytics Some processes may generate a large amount of data that can be analysed to determine if an intended outcome has been achieved. Document Review Although most modern ISO Management System Standards have reduced the amount of mandatory documentation, most organisations will find that they generate some documents in order to operate the system more effectively, and become resilient to key staff leaving the business.
Onsite vs Offsite The majority of our audits are conducted Onsite, however with the emergence of video conferencing and other tools, it is increasingly becoming possible to execute some of the techniques above remotely. Human Interaction Vs No Human Interaction We believe that people are the most important asset to an organisation and therefore are the key to really understanding what is going on within a management system.
Managing Audit Risks If not managed properly, audits can introduce risk in to the organisation, which of course we want to avoid. Search icon.
